Objective: This study aimed to determine the effect of using audio-visual media based on the Atu Belah Atu Bertangkup folklore on the learning motivation of fifth-grade students at SD Negeri 10 Langsa. The study was motivated by the low level of students' attention, participation, and enthusiasm in Indonesian language learning, as well as the need for more engaging and contextual learning media. Method: This study employed a quantitative approach with a Pre-Experimental Design using the Intact Group Comparison type. The population and sample consisted of 38 students, comprising 19 students from class V-A as the experimental group and 19 students from class V-B as the control group. Data were collected using a four-point Likert-scale learning motivation questionnaire. The instrument was tested for validity and reliability, with all items declared valid and a Cronbach's Alpha coefficient of 0.877. Data analysis involved normality, homogeneity, and Independent Sample t-test procedures. Results: The mean learning motivation score of the experimental group was 71.47, while that of the control group was 62.84. The hypothesis test resulted in a t-count of 5.170 > t-table of 2.028, with a significance value of 0.000 < 0.05. Therefore, the use of audio-visual media based on Atu Belah Atu Bertangkup significantly affected students' learning motivation. Novelty: This study integrates audio-visual media with the local Acehnese folklore Atu Belah Atu Bertangkup in Indonesian language learning, focusing specifically on elementary students' learning motivation. Thus, the study combines learning media, Indonesian language instruction, and local cultural wisdom in a contextual learning experience.
