Subject. This article focuses on the digital ecosystems of the agro-industrial complex of different countries. Objectives. The study aims to develop a theoretical and methodological approach to assessing the maturity of digital agroecosystems in the global economy and to identify the conditions for the transition from fragmented digitalization to a sustainable digital agro-industrial ecosystem. Methods. For the study, we used methods of content analysis, comparative and institutional analyses, systematization of scientific literature and regulatory methods, expert grouping of indicators. Results. The article proposes a stage-based model of digital agroecosystem formation in different countries. It also substantiates the need for a comprehensive methodology to assess the depth of digital ecosystems, and identifies the main barriers to the transition from fragmented digitalization to an ecosystem. Conclusions. The choice of financial and credit mechanisms for small and medium-sized agricultural producers in global and Russian practice will depend on the level of digital agroecosystems maturity. The research results can support the development of agricultural digitalization roadmaps, digital ecosystem architecture design, and the analysis of digitalization projects by maturity level.
