RAiD (Research Activity Identifier) is a next-generation, ISO standard, persistent identifier designed to formally link all components of a research project - people, organisations, funding, instruments, and data - throughout the research lifecycle. This presentation will detail how RAiD strengthens the Persistent Identifier (PID) ecosystem by acting as a central hub. Specifically, we will explore RAiD’s purpose-built metadata schema, which is optimised to capture the complex relationships inherent in research activities, moving beyond simple one-to-one connections. We will also demonstrate how the RAiD API enables machine-to-machine retrieval of these rich connection graphs, transforming how PIDs are leveraged for attribution, reporting, and provenance tracking, thereby increasing the value and utility of existing PID investments for the community.
