Climate change has imposed growing challenges on public healthcare systems, requiring hospitals to develop greater adaptive capacity, operational efficiency, and sustainability. In this context, this study discusses the importance of sustainability in public hospital management in response to climate-related impacts, taking the Odete Valadares Maternity Hospital (Maternidade Odete Valadares – MOV), affiliated with the Hospital Foundation of the State of Minas Gerais (Fundação Hospitalar do Estado de Minas Gerais – Fhemig), as its object of analysis. The research is characterized as qualitative, descriptive, and exploratory, and was conducted through a literature review and documentary analysis of scientific publications, institutional documents, and national and international guidelines related to hospital sustainability. The results demonstrate that practices focused on energy efficiency, the rational use of water resources, appropriate healthcare waste management, and infrastructure modernization contribute to reducing environmental impacts, optimizing public resources, and strengthening institutional resilience. It was also observed that initiatives aimed at humanizing healthcare, professional development, and organizational innovation contribute to improving the quality of maternal and child care. The analysis of MOV demonstrates that integrating sustainability, strategic management, and healthcare delivery is a fundamental element in addressing the challenges posed by climate change and the growing demands of the Brazilian Unified Health System (Sistema Único de Saúde – SUS). It is concluded that incorporating the principles discussed at COP30 into hospital planning can contribute to the development of more resilient and efficient institutions committed to sustainable development.
