Household waste management continues to be a significant issue in many rural communities, including Siser Village, Laren District, Lamongan Regency. This study was conducted to examine community behavior in managing household waste and to identify the factors shaping such behavior. A descriptive qualitative design was adopted, with participants selected through purposive sampling. Data were obtained using participatory observation, in-depth interviews, Focus Group Discussions (FGDs), documentation, and were validated through source triangulation. The results indicate that most residents still dispose of household waste by burning it in their yards or throwing it into the Bengawan Solo River due to the lack of a Temporary Waste Disposal Site (TPS). These practices are influenced by long-established habits, previous experiences, perceptions of convenience, and limited waste management facilities. Among the waste management alternatives introduced through community education, landfill leachate liquid organic fertilizer (POC Air Lindi) received the strongest positive response because of its simple application and direct benefits for local agricultural activities. The study highlights that sustainable behavioral change depends on continuous community assistance, improved waste management infrastructure, and strong collaboration among the village government, youth organizations, and local residents to support long-term household waste management.
