The Multi-Lens Pedagogical Content Framework (ML-PCF) Applied to the Dewi Sri Myth for BIPA Instruction. The Dewi Sri myth as the rice goddess in Javanese–Balinese cosmology has rarely been examined in terms of its pedagogical potential in teaching Indonesian as a Foreign Language. This study aims to examine the applicability of the Multi-Lens Pedagogical Content Framework as an analytical instrument for evaluating the pedagogical potential of folklore texts in language learning contexts. This study employs a qualitative approach with a content analysis design based on a single-case study. The data consist of two versions of the Dewi Sri text with different narrative registers: a cosmogonic myth and a historical-etiological narrative. The analysis is conducted using a nine-dimensional framework that integrates narrative, symbolic, and intercultural competence perspectives. The findings indicate that the framework effectively captures the integrated complexity of narrative structure, symbolic richness, and intercultural competence embedded in the texts. Symbolic density and critical engagement emerge as the most dominant dimensions in supporting learning at intermediate to advanced levels. Differences in narrative register also lead to distinct pedagogical implications, with the etiological version being more suitable for intermediate learners and the cosmogonic version for advanced learners. This study concludes that a multidimensional analytical framework is necessary to replace the largely intuitive selection of folklore materials. The framework can also be practically applied by teachers to design language learning that integrates intercultural competence development.
