This paper offers a materialist reading of novels that showcase bonds between sisters through objects: El libro de Aisha (2018) by Sylvia Aguilar Zéleny, Entre los rotos (2019) by Alaíde Ventura Medina, and El invencible verano de Liliana (2021) by Cristina Rivera Garza. We visualize assemblages and read proxemics between subjects and objects. In these books, the appearance of objects produces a material record of the lives of loved ones and disorients the affections of those who interact with them. Through this process, the narrators embody an otherness and discover a subjectivity modified by affective objects.
