This statement puts forward Flow and Bits, a theory of consciousness that states consciousness as the entire process and grounds that process in an energy mechanism: energy in movement (flow) laying down recordings (bits) maintained in a gathering, the whole running of which is consciousness and whose registration is its announcement. The account arises from a census of how the scholarly literature uses the word 'energy' — first in the Journal of Transpersonal Psychology (2004–2013, coded by hand in 2013 and extended to 2024) and, by the same method, in the flagship journals of the neighbouring domains — and from an audit of theories of consciousness by domain, which finds no theory that states consciousness as the entire process and grounds it in an energy mechanism. The statement fixes the theory's claims, its definitions, its conditions of withdrawal, and its date; an annex presents the account's process map.
