The current study intends to theoretically examine the behaviour of heat transfer in the water-ethylene glycol(EG)-based nanofluid flow containing copper nanoparticles through a rectangular channel. Considering a 50:50 and 70:30 volume ratio of water and EG, this study intends to further analyse the influence of an external magnetic field and viscous dissipation on the flow and heat transfer properties of the nanofluid. Due to its extensive applications in industrial and engineering sectors, such as lubrication, electronic thermal cooling systems, and thermal control systems, the flow of nanofluid with nanoparticles of different shapes - platelet, cylindrical, and brick- through a channel of parallel plates is incorporated in the study. Further, the considered non-linear PDEs that govern the momentum and energy are reduced into non-linear ODEs with the help of similarity transformations. The transformed equations are then approached by computational methods, specifically HPM, to obtain an approximate analytical solution to the problem. In order to analyse the impact of the pertinent physical parameters involved in the study, the numerical values corresponding to the coefficient of skin friction and Nusselt number are tabulated, in addition to the graphical presentation of velocity and temperature profiles. It is apparent from the results achieved that increasing values of solid volume fraction elevate the temperature profile. Moreover, it is noticed that the 50:50 water–EG mixture with platelet-shaped nanoparticles exhibits a higher Nusselt number. Additionally, the numerical results achieved by HPM are in harmony with the values obtained by the 4th-order Runge-Kutta method.
