A palladium-catalyzed multicomponent cascade reaction involving o-iodostyrenes, (2-bromoaryl)boronates, and H-phosphonates or bis(pinacolato)diboron has been developed. The reaction features sequential Suzuki–Miyaura coupling, Heck cyclization, and C–P/C–B bond construction, wherein (2-bromoaryl)boronate acts as a dual coupling partner to overcome the inherent regioselectivity limitations of its aryne precursor pathway.
