This content analysis method supports the assessment of justice provisions by integrating computer-assisted coding with the institutional assessment of texts. Drawing on a multidimensional approach to justice, the method enables a comparative assessment of 14 justice criteria, combining the quantification of references to provisions with a qualitative analysis of the institutional effect of such provisions. Content analysis combines deductive and inductive manual coding, which identifies where justice provisions occur in texts, with computer-assisted coding, which measures the textual emphasis of each criterion across a large corpus. Institutional analysis identifies the effect of justice provisions by assigning a degree of institutionalisation to each criterion. Integrating textual emphasis with institutional analysis identifies the presence of justice provisions and the consequences of such provisions for decision-making across extensive documentation.
