Purpose of review This review aims to highlight the key chronic lung diseases relevant to ENT specialists, elucidate shared pathophysiological mechanisms, and provide practical guidance on diagnosis, perioperative considerations, and multidisciplinary management. Recent findings This review focuses on the intersections between chronic lung disease and otolaryngology practice, with a particular emphasis on bronchopulmonary dysplasia (BPD), asthma, diffuse lung disease (DLD), and suppurative lung disease. Newer therapies have been recently approved, that have continued to change disease progression and prognosis. Summary Chronic lung diseases (CLD) represent a significant source of morbidity across all age groups, with profound implications for both lower and upper airway health. By enhancing awareness of these intersections, ENT surgeons can better support this complex and vulnerable patient population.
