Background: Esaxerenone is 1 of 4 mineralocorticoid-receptor blockers (MRBs) available in Japan. Hyperkalemia is a clinically significant adverse effect of esaxerenone when used for antihypertensive therapy; however, few studies have compared the incidence of hyperkalemia following treatment with esaxerenone vs. other MRBs.
