We report an amine-decorated porous rht-type Cu-MOF (HNUST-18) that has multi-CO2-philic sites (CuII OMSs, triazine rings and NH groups) and shows a high CO2 gas uptake capacity (27.3 mmol g–1, 273 K under 30 bar) with effective separation for CO2–CH4 (CO2–N2) mixtures under dynamic conditions at 298 K. Theoretical calculations verify that NH groups and triazine rings have significant synergistic effects to enhance CO2 binding affinity.
