We present a genome assembly of Carpobrotus edulis (sour fig; Streptophyta; Magnoliopsida; Caryophyllales; Aizoaceae). The assembly consists of two haplotypes with total lengths of 939.89 megabases and 955.96 megabases. Most of the haplotype 1 assembly (93.62%) was scaffolded into nine chromosomal pseudomolecules. Haplotype 2 was assembled to scaffold level. The mitochondrial sequences have lengths of 3333.84 and 189.62 kilobases and the plastid genome assembly has a length of 148.81 kilobases. Gene annotation of the haplotype 1 assembly by Ensembl identified 20,735 protein-coding genes. This assembly was generated as part of the Darwin Tree of Life project, which produces reference genomes for eukaryotic species found in Britain and Ireland.
