Two recently published genus-group names within Spilomelinae, Scintilla Wang & Xiao, 2026 and Melanoleuca Wang & Xiao, 2026, are identified as junior homonyms. Scintilla Wang & Xiao, 2026 is preoccupied by the bivalve Scintilla Deshayes, 1856 (Mollusca: Galeommatidae), whereas Melanoleuca Wang & Xiao, 2026 conflicts with the avian genus-group name Melanoleuca Morris in Wood, 1837. Following Articles 52 and 60 of the International Code of Zoological Nomenclature (ICZN, 1999), the replacement names Scintillodes nom. nov. and Melanoleucodes nom. nov. are formally proposed. New combinations are established for all species formerly assigned to these two invalid genera. One new species, Melanoleucodes badongensissp. nov., is described from Badong County, Hubei Province, China. Morphological diagnosis, male and female genitalic features, type specimen data and distribution information are provided. Cytochrome oxidase subunit I (COI) barcode data for Melanoleucodes are analyzed to assess the phylogenetic placement of the new species. Checklists are supplied for Scintillodes nom. nov. and Melanoleucodes nom. nov.
