Neanthes sp. 1 Fig. 7 A Material examined. MZB.Pol.00281 (1 female), collected by Joko Pamungkas on 24 November 2017 from Warmar Island: Wangel Village, Aru Islands District, Aru Islands Regency, Maluku Province (5°45'05.1"S, 134°11'43.2"E). Diagnosis. Single epitokous specimen incomplete. Body color in alcohol cream with brown pigmentation in some areas, including anterior part of prostomium (brown triangular), dorsum of peristomium and chaetiger 1 (brown band), and dorsum of subsequent anterior chaetigers (a brown bar on each lateral side). Prostomium with entire anterior margin. Four circular black eyes present, arranged obliquely with distance between anterior eyes wider than that of posterior ones. Antennae conical. Palps biarticulated with barrel-shaped palpophores and rounded palpostyles. Peristomium bearing four pairs of smooth peristomial cirri with distinct cirrophores; longest cirri reaching chaetiger 3. Conical paragnaths present on both rings. Notoaciculae of chaetigers 1 and 2 absent. Notochaetae without homogomph falcigers. Distribution and habitat. The species was obtained from Maluku, Indonesia, inhabiting intertidal sandy shore with reefs. Remarks. Neanthes species with brown bars on the dorsum of anterior segments are common in Indonesian waters (and the wider Indo-West Pacific), and although the color patterns of the present species may turn out to be diagnostic, more specimens, especially non-reproductive forms, are required to assess the variation in this and other morphological features.
