Collision-induced dissociation (CID) of silver–amino acid clusters results in the formation of the silver hydride cluster Ag4H+, which mediates CC bond coupling of allyl bromide (see scheme). Energy-resolved CID experiments reveal that the product is 1, 5-hexadiene and suggest analogies between the chemistry of the clusters and that of silver surfaces and nanoparticles.
