Abstract

ABSTRACT: This research addresses the phenomenon of medical-institutional gaslighting against gifted individuals, investigating its manifestations, impacts and challenges in the legal, psychological and social spheres. It is contextualized in the growing concern about institutional abuses that compromise human rights and the psychological integrity of individuals with high abilities, highlighting the insufficiency of legal and institutional structures to address them. The central problem involves the difficulty of recognizing, preventing and repairing gaslighting in medical and institutional environments, aggravated by the complexity of the evidence and structural resistance. The main objective was to understand and systematize the theoretical, practical and legal aspects of institutional gaslighting, proposing an interdisciplinary basis for public policies and legal action. To this end, the neoperspectivist paradigm of Gifted was adopted, incorporating theories of constitutional law, social psychology and criminology. The hypothetical-deductive method was used to formulate and test hypotheses, and a rigorous scientific bibliographic and documentary narrative review was conducted, consulting databases such as Scielo, Scopus, Web of Science and PubMed, with specific descriptors related to institutional violence, psychological abuse and giftedness, resulting in the critical analysis of 42 high-impact studies. The main findings revealed the systematization of the mechanisms of gaslighting, its psychological consequences and the insufficiency of regulations for its prevention and redress. It was concluded that the phenomenon is serious and demands a multidisciplinary approach. Gaps in jurisprudential uniformity and professional training were identified. Limitations involved the scarcity of primary empirical data. Its value lies in strengthening academic debate and promoting social justice and dignity.
