Abstract: Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj occupies a central place in Indian historical and political thought. Beyond his military achievements, his administrative vision and ethical governance have continued to influence modern discourse on leadership and statecraft. This paper examines the legacy of Shivaji Maharaj in contemporary discussions on good governance, decentralization, and public welfare. The study is based on secondary sources including historical texts, scholarly articles, and modern interpretations of Maratha administration. The analysis highlights how Shivaji Maharaj’s emphasis on accountability, justice, and inclusive governance remains relevant in present-day democratic systems. The paper concludes that his leadership principles provide valuable insights for modern administrators and policymakers, demonstrating the enduring significance of his legacy in modern discourse.
