Adoption Rates and Outcomes of Preventive Healthcare Practices Among Community Health Workers Trained in Yaoundé, Cameroon 2012

Community health workers (CHWs) play a pivotal role in preventive healthcare practices in developing countries, such as Cameroon. A mixed-methods study integrating quantitative surveys with qualitative interviews to evaluate training effectiveness and practice uptake. Training participants demonstrated significant interest (85%) in adopting new preventive healthcare techniques, with a notable preference for immunization programmes over nutrition education. The findings highlight the need for tailored support strategies to enhance CHW engagement and ensure sustained practice of recommended health interventions. Policy recommendations include targeted training modules and ongoing mentorship programmes to bolster CHWs' skills in delivering preventive healthcare effectively.
