ABSTRACT Social media has significantly transformed the landscape of healthcare communication, including dental health education. This review explores the multifaceted role of social media in promoting dental health awareness, highlighting its potential to reach vast audiences quickly, enhance patient engagement, and support health professionals. Platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, and TikTok have become key tools for disseminating evidence-based dental care information and fostering behavior change through interactive, multimedia content. Social media campaigns encourage preventive dental practices, raise awareness on oral diseases, and create supportive communities. However, challenges such as misinformation, unverified health advice, and ethical concerns persist. The review also examines the benefits of social media for both patients and healthcare providers, facilitating real-time communication, continuous education, and improved health literacy. Despite the risks, the paper concludes that social media holds substantial promise for advancing dental health education, provided that professionals collaborate with influencers to ensure the delivery of accurate, reliable information. The integration of emerging technologies like artificial intelligence and augmented reality could further personalize and enhance the effectiveness of dental health promotion in the digital era.
