A watching brief was undertaken during the excavation of a new cable trench at Overlea, Stenness, Orkney. Following consultation with the Local Authority Archaeologist and in line with best practice, all ground breaking works associated with the project were monitored. The programme of archaeological monitoring has shown that there was no material of archaeological significance present in those areas affected by the current scheme of works. The only features of anthropogenic origin observed were considered to be relatively modern and associated with old boundary walls of the adjacent properties or with the installation of services.
