Level 4 Building Record This Level 4 building record is required by Condition 11 of planning permission 6/2024/0908/MAJ. Historic England define this level of record as a 'detailed analytical record', which consists of a drawn, written and photographic record of the building. Site Visit A site visit was completed on the 23rd and 24th June 2025 by Historic Buildings Consultant, Hannah Blackmore, to observe and photograph the building and its context. Particular attention is paid to evidence of the former use of the building. Any evidence relating to the primary or historic use was recorded and interpreted to inform the overall understanding of the building. Drawn record The drawn record is based on existing plans provided by the client (see drawings 17- 109-01A, 17-109-02, 17-109-03, 17-109-04, 17-109-05 and 17-109-06 for plans; 17- 108-07 and 17-108-08 for elevations, and 17-108-09 for sections), which have been annotated to respond to items 2, 4, and 6-8 of the Historic England guidance regarding 'the drawn record'. The drawings include: � A site plan at 1:1250 scale relating the building to other structures, topographical and landscape features (Fig. 6); � Annotated measured elevations as existing, showing any form of architectural decoration and to aid the understanding of the building's design, development or function (Figs. 7 and 8); � Plans as existing, with photo location points and annotations indicating the form and location of any structural features and/or detail of historic significance including any evidence for former fixtures and fittings (Figs. 9- 14); � Measured sections as existing (Fig. 15). Photographic record A digital photographic record has been compiled. Photography has been undertaken with a Canon EOS 4000D 18mpx TTL digital camera set to .jpeg format in accordance with items 1 to 9 of the Historic England guidance (HE 2016). The photographic record includes general views of the building, shots of the external appearance and the overall appearance of principal spaces and functional areas. Specific architectural details that relate to date, alteration, or function have been subject to more detailed photographic recording. Where surviving, external or internal detail (structural or decorative) relevant to the building's design, development and use has been photographed, with scale where appropriate. The photographic survey comprises digital images of the building and specific features of interest. Images have been saved in .jpeg format. Appropriate levels of Metadata will be maintained and included in the digital archive following the approach set out in the aforementioned guidance. Written record The Level 4 written record is analytical in its composition and comprises a more comprehensive account of the building which utilises information from the structure itself alongside a full range of other sources of information on the building. The written account includes the building location, the dates of the record and the name of the recorder. The written record is intended to supplement and support the other elements of the recording to provide an external and internal description of the building in terms of its architecture, setting, construction, development and use. The written record includes a longer summary statement which summarises the report's findings on the form, function, date and sequence of development. The full written record includes a full description of the exterior and interior of the building and an analytical account of the building's past and present use, and of the use of its parts with the evidence for these interpretations. Where relevant it can also include analysis of the past and present use, circulation patterns, decorative/liturgical schemes, account of fixtures, fittings, plant or machinery and a sequential account of the ways materials or processes were handled.
