Abstract The article focuses on a new section in the September 1, 1987 issue of the Journal of Information Systems that presents software packages suitable for use in an accounting information system course. This section, entitled Software Review, will be divided into two parts: "Educational Software Review" and "New Software Available." The editorial board of the Journal is interested in developing the content of the reviews included in "Educational Software Review" to consider the following information: educational applications of the software, courses which use the software package, how the package is/may be incorporated into the classroom and feedback on its use. "New Software Available" section will provide summary information on new products available and will encourage readers to explore some of the new products and perhaps then send their findings to the editors. Addison-Wesley in conjunction with the Lotus Development Corp. will market a student edition that is customized for use in the classroom. The purpose of this package is to train college students on the software they are likely to use in the job market.
