ABSTRACT The literature dealing with discases of the optic nerve, tracts, and visual cortex for the period September 1971 to November 1972 was reviewed. Twenty‐four papers dealing with topics of interests to optometrists have been abstracted. Principal subjects of this review include: defects in retinal circulation, optic disc anomalies, cases of correct and incorrect diagnosis of drusen, optic nerve damage with emphasis on the “swinging flashlight test”, disc findings in glaucoma, stereopsis defects due to cortical lesions, and further progress in objective evaluation not only of fundus details, but also in detection of paretic extraocular muscles.
