Artificial Intelligence (AI) and digital technologies are rapidly transforming the global economy and education systems. India’s vision of Viksit Bharat-2047 aims to transform the country into a developed nation by the centenary of independence. Higher education institutions, especially colleges, play a critical role in developing human capital capable of supporting this transformation. This research paper examines how colleges can contribute to developing AI and digital skills among students through curriculum innovation, infrastructure development, faculty training, and industry collaboration. The study highlights the importance of integrating emerging technologies into higher education to produce a skilled workforce that supports innovation, entrepreneurship, and national development. The paper also discusses challenges and provides suggestions for strengthening AI-based education systems in colleges.
