A programme of archaeological observation and recording took place during the refurbishment of No 7 Wood Street, within the centre of medieval Stratford, on behalf of Pragnells. Concrete flooring from the later 20th century, which occurred in much of the building, was lifted and archaeological deposits below were investigated and recorded. The work was carried out in accordance with the Chartered Institute for Archaeologists standard and guidance for an archaeological watching brief (2020) The earliest substantial features revealed were two sections of plinth wall which may relate to an earlier, possibly later medieval - certainly pre-18th century, timber framed building that reached over 10m back from the road. Evidence of the construction of an 18th century brick-built structure with three rooms on the ground floor with a cellar below the middle room.
