Genome assembly reveals 28,970 protein-coding genes in Sepioteuthis lessoniana, indicating complex genetic organization.
<ns3:p>We present a genome assembly from a specimen of <ns3:italic>Sepioteuthis lessoniana</ns3:italic> (bigfin reef squid; Mollusca; Cephalopoda; Myopsida; Loliginidae). The genome sequence has a total length of 5,056.23 megabases. Most of the assembly (86.4%) is scaffolded into 44 chromosomal pseudomolecules. The mitochondrial genome has also been assembled and is 16.64 kilobases in length. Gene annotation of this assembly on Ensembl identified 28,970 protein-coding genes.</ns3:p>
