Research demonstrates efficient RORO vessel operations in port management, suggesting benefits for software enhancements.
This study aims to optimize the operation of RORO vessel handling at Tan Vu Port (Hai Phong Port Joint Stock Company) through simulation and its integration into port management software. Based on real operational data, the research team developed operational scenarios and applied calculation methods referenced from international studies, tailored to the specific characteristics of the Hai Phong port region. The simulation approach enabled the determination of optimal handling time and performance evaluation under constraints related to berth availability and vessel congestion. The results indicate that the proposed simulation model closely reflects real-world operations and effectively supports decision-making in port management, planning, and coordination. Additionally, the study provides quantitative indicators to support software upgrades in port operation and management. This is one of the first practical simulation applications for RORO vessels in the North of Vietnam, contributing to improved port efficiency and offering potential for broader implementation in the future.
