Analytical evaluation reveals reduction in bending resistance of reinforced concrete T-section girders, indicating serious risks in chloride-rich environments.
The content of the article presents the results of research and evaluation by analytical method combined with finite element method testing, a specific case for a simple span reinforced concrete bridge girder structure T-section, designed according to VietNamese standards (TCVN 11823 - 2017) in the condition of the girder being damaged due to steel corrosion under the influence of an environment containing many chloride ions. The operating conditions of the structure and the level of corrosion are considered when the steel corrosion process takes place silently for a long time of 35 years. The cross-section of the steel and the remaining bending resistance over time are calculated and statistically calculated, the analytical calculation results are then simulated by the authors to verify and compare. Thereby, the impact of steel corrosion on the bending resistance of the T- girder structure is evaluated and commented on.
