Linear evaluation shows minimal differences in measurements between tomographic images and gold standard in the mandible, suggesting effective planning.
The objective of this study was to evaluate the points of linear measurement according to the reconstruction plan of the tomographic image in the posterior region of the mandible. The materials and methods are three mandibles (B, M and D) were prepared with metal markers simulating the alveolar nerve canal and the crest of the alveolar ridge. The following images were obtained with the mandibular plane without and with a guide, alveolar plane without and with a guide and the occlusal plane without and with a guide. The obtaneid sagittal images were evaluated by 20 professionals in the area of dentistry, and the linear measurements in the coronal cut, according to the reconstruction plan of the tomographic image, were compared with gold standard measurements involving the occlusal plane, positioned at ninety degrees with the guide as a benchmark. The results are the test showed that the measurements obtained in the POCG plan did not show significant differences from the standard gold measures (p>0,05). The conclusion are the image reconstruction plan should be the same plan that will be used for the surgical intervention.
