Case report reveals multiple plaque ruptures causing acute coronary syndrome, suggesting a role of inflammatory factors.
A BSTRACT The rupture of a vulnerable plaque causes acute coronary syndrome (ACS). Occasionally there is diffuse destabilization of multiple atherosclerotic plaques in patients with ACSs; a phenomenon called “pan-coronaritis.” Inflammatory and thrombophilic milieu that develops in ACS is considered as the etiology. We herein report multiple plaque ruptures in a 60-year-old male presenting as ACS.
