Synthesis of bifunctional epoxy fluorosilicone monomers improves photopolymerization performance and material properties.
A series of bifunctional alicyclic epoxy fluorosilicone monomers (EOEC‐FSi n , n = 3, 6, 9) with varying chain lengths were designed and synthesized through hydrosilylation reactions. These monomers exhibited excellent photopolymerization performance and significantly enhanced the photopolymerization of the commercial monomer glycidyl methacrylate (GMA). Upon 900 s irradiation, the final epoxy group and the double‐bonded conversion of the EOEC‐FSi n /GMA system reached up to 93.0% and exceeded 94.5%, respectively. Moreover, the addition of EOEC‐FSi n significantly improved the hydrophobicity, oleophobicity, mechanical properties, and thermal stability of the EOEC‐FSi n /GMA system. The largest water and diiodomethane contact angles and the elongation at break reached 104.7°, 105.6°, and 54.9%, respectively.
