Algorithm improves flight time and fuel consumption in large civil aircraft, considering adverse weather and navigation waypoints.
This paper presents a trajectory optimization algorithm based on the Hybrid A* algorithm. This algorithm is aimed at optimizing flight time and fuel consumption for large civil aircraft, considering adverse weather conditions and predefined navigation waypoints. The preliminaries involve the development of a flight configuration model, an aircraft dynamics model, the establishment of a 3D workspace with navigation waypoints, the modeling of meteorology, and the addressing of waypoint constraints. Following this comprehensive groundwork, the Hybrid A*-based algorithm, employed to determine an optimal path within the 3D workspace while accommodating severe weather conditions and following navigation waypoints, is then introduced. In the experiment, the algorithm is tested using two distinct types of flight routes: a long-distance route and a short-distance route. The results demonstrate optimized outcomes that thoroughly consider adverse weather conditions and navigation waypoints, effectively optimizing both flight time and fuel consumption while upholding safety and efficiency standards.
