Analysis reveals distinct volatile components in essential oil from medium morphological size forest cloves, indicating their unique properties.
Forest cloves have three groups of variants distinguished based on their morphological size. The complete components of essential oil variants of large and small morphological sizes of forest cloves have been reported, but variants with moderate morphological sizes have not been registered. The research was conducted in forest clove distribution locations on Ambon Island, Maluku, Indonesia. The samples analyzed consisted of flower buds, stalks, and leaves of the medium morphological size forest clove variant. Complete component analysis of essential oils using Gas Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry (GC-MS). The main components of the essential oil produced are shown as a heatmap profile. The analysis results identified seven elements on the flower, 11 on the stalk, and 13 on the leaf. The heatmap profile shows the main components of volatile oil from the medium morphological size forest clove variant, namely caryophyllene, t-muurolol, copaene, cadinene, eugenol, and cadinol.
