Research demonstrates effective precipitation of mixed ni/co hydroxides in ferruginous laterite ores, suggesting potential efficiency in hydrometallurgical processes.
The study results concerning the possibility of processing ammonia-sulfate solutions obtained after leaching of reduced ferruginous laterite ores from the Buruktalskoye deposit in the presence of (NH4)2SO4 are presented. The conditions for the selective hydrolytic precipitation of Fe(III), Ni, and Co hydroxides were determined; (NH4)2CO3, NaOH and Na2CO3 were considered as reagents. As a result, it was found that after preliminary iron purification with ammonium carbonate (pH 4.0), almost complete precipitation of mixed Ni / Co hydroxides (MHP) from ammonia-sulfate solutions was achieved at pH 9.3 and using a neutralizer precipitator NaOH as a reagent. The residual Ni content in the solution is less than 4 mg / l.
