Simulation identifies recommendations for mathematical modelling of gaseous fluid flow, highlighting energy performance in natural ventilation.
The present paper aims to identify the necessary recommendations for the mathematical modelling of gaseous fluid flow. Natural ventilation of buildings represents a complex and difficult to predict phenomena that depends in some cases on unknown variables cause by the specific function use and the occupants behaviour or habits regarding the matter, that leads to increase of energy demand required to fulfil the needed interior comfort temperature. In some cases, when grilles and diffusers of different geometric shapes are used for the purpose of controlling fresh air intake in natural ventilation systems, it is difficult to evaluate the energy economy factor. Also, the paper will include the results of a series of simulations based on different discretization grids and interface models with the aim of determining the degree of numerical convergence of the results. The obtained mathematical model can be further used for the modelling and simulation of phenomena associated with natural ventilation in buildings to enhance the energy performance of the system.
