Research reveals impressive corrosion resistance in cu-15ni-3al alloys, highlighting potential applications in aerospace and manufacturing.
The Cu-Ni alloy, renowned for its excellent corrosion resistance, has been extensively applied in ship pipeline materials. With the rapid advancement of the aerospace and mechanical manufacturing industries, components such as aero-engines and high-speed bearings demand materials with superior corrosion and wear resistance. This study investigates Cu-15Ni-3Al, evaluating its corrosion and wear resistance, and analyzing the corresponding mechanisms. The results indicate that the Cu-15Ni-3Al alloy exhibits outstanding mechanical properties. The dominant wear mechanisms are oxidative and adhesive wear, while the corrosion rate after 96 hours of salt spray exposure is 0.01351 mm/a. The Cu 2 O film formed during corrosion effectively inhibits redox reactions on the alloy surface, contributing to a reduction in the average corrosion rate.
