Modern education faces challenges such as inconsistency of curricula with the requirements of the information society, lack of individualization in learning and outdated methodological approaches. The article analyzes the problems faced by education in general and, in particular, in the context of teaching the discipline "Information and Communication Technologies" (ICT), and also proposes solutions based on the use of artificial intelligence (AI). The authors analyze modern literature and describe various approaches to using AI to optimize the educational process. The results of previous studies are discussed, as well as prospects for further research in this area with the aim of improving the quality of education and optimizing the educational process in higher education. The article discusses the main directions of involving artificial intelligence in the educational process, such as personalization of learning, development of empathic systems, automation of routine tasks, development of creativity and innovation in students, organization of blended learning. Examples of successful use of AI in education are given. Attention is also paid to the negative aspects of using AI, including potential threats to data privacy. It is proposed to develop an intelligent learning system (ITS) for higher educational institutions.
