Ultrasonographic evaluation reveals renal resistive index changes in hypertension, suggesting early detection of renal damage.
The Renal Resistive Index is an ultrasonographic spectral Doppler parameter employed for the assessment of renal hemodynamics. In patients with primary hypertension, it reflects changes in intrarenal perfusion as well as systemic hemodynamics and atherosclerosis. It may provide useful prognostic information and possibly have therapeutic implications. It could be the non-invasive screening tool for early detection of renal damage in primary hypertension
