Analysis reveals shifts in the image of technical progress in cinema, indicating a complex societal acceptance of technology.
The author of the article sets the task of tracing the transformation of the image of the future associated with technical progress in feature cinema, starting with the appearance of the first film that touched on this issue, «The Death of Sensation», to the present day. The relevance of the study is beyond doubt, since the considered image of the technological development of the future in the modern world and its evolution help to trace the change in the emotional-volitional component of society, the acceptance and rethinking of progress, the degree of readiness for change in material and technical terms. Analyzing films devoted to understanding the possible consequences of scientific and technical discoveries in the future, a characteristic of the image in Soviet pre-war, Soviet post-war and post-Soviet cinema is given, common and different features, features in visualization are revealed. It is noted that, having originated in 1930, the image undergoes significant changes: it ceases to be perceived exclusively in a negative way, begins to have an ambivalent character, is filled with new content and details. In conclusion, the article draws a conclusion about the importance of predicting the possible consequences of the introduction of technologies, playing out various scenarios of the future with the help of cinematography in order to choose the most optimal path of development for man and the world as a whole.
