This work highlights the interplay between visual art and writing in Ania Walwicz's multifaceted practice, showing how her approach engages with artistic dimensions.
It goes without saying that to work with Ania is to witness the delightfully unpredictable and wondrous unravelling of the ‘Walwicz process’. Her approach reminds me of something Roland Barthes once said: ‘text is not a line of words but a multi-dimensional space in which a variety of writings, none of them original, blend and clash’... The same can be said of Ania’s visual work – the drawings and paintings often completed in conjunction with texts. And even though this aspect of her practice diminished, moving away from the art world to focus on her writing and performances, the ‘multi-dimensional space’... the ‘blending’ and ‘clashing’ equally epitomised her visual art practice.
