Systematic review enhances student engagement and outcomes in civil engineering, suggesting new teaching models.
This paper examines the infusion of new STEM strategies to improve civil engineering education for meeting changing industry requirements. The goal is to review existing practices and design a model with emphasis on critical thinking, problem solving, and skill application. The approach is based on systematic literature review (2000 – 2023) and construction of a conceptual educational model with project-based learning, digital technology, and interdisciplinary team approaches. The results indicate that these proprietary techniques enhance student engagement, understanding of concepts, and professional practice readiness. Students demonstrated superior learning outcomes using these methods as opposed to the traditional methods of assessment. This study Alms and serves educators with a concrete framework that aims with more agile and flexible civil engineering curriculum development.
