Experimental study shows improved lower extremity perfusion in diabetes mellitus patients after Buerger Allen Exercise, indicating potential therapeutic benefits.
Buerger-Allen Exercise (BAE) promotes Lower Extremity Perfusion (LEP) via the wound healing process and reduces Peripheral Neuropathy Symptoms (PNS) among Diabetes Mellitus (DM) patients. Individuals with diabetes mellitus have a two-to-four-fold increase in the rate of peripheral arterial disease. Peripheral arterial disease is a slow and progressive disease with systemic atherosclerosis. Lower extremity exercise helps to re establish collateral blood flow to the legs and to the heart. The aim of the study was to assess the effectiveness of Buerger Allen Exercise on lower extremity perfusion among patients with diabetes mellitus in Civil Hospital and a selected Primary Health Centre at Fatehabad in Haryana. Total 60 samples that were selected by non probability purposive sampling technique were used for the study. According to questionnaire, the pre-test levels of lower extremity perfusion among patients with diabetes mellitus were observed. The results showed that observational schedule on Burger Allen Exercises regarding diabetic patients are very effective and will improve their knowledge.
