This research finds teachers' perceptions on child abuse prevention in education settings, highlighting their readiness for intervention.
This study refers to the phenomenon of child abuse and its management, prevention and treatment. It describes ways of diagnostic assessment and intervention for teachers and mental health professionals, as well as the actions to follow in cases of suspected incidents of child abuse and/or neglect of students. It also focuses on the discourse of secondary education teachers, through primary research data collected from a sample of 98 teachers serving in Drama Secondary Education. The aim of this work is also to present the attitudes, perceptions and preparedness of the teachers, who participated in the research, towards the phenomenon of child abuse and to highlight those elements that prevent a more effective treatment of the phenomenon. The findings of our research come from a specific sample of secondary school teachers and can in no way be generalized. They aim to offer a small contribution to research for the more effective management and treatment of incidents involving minors who have suffered any form of violence.
