Case report highlights recurrent hyponatremia as a potential sign of panhypopituitarism, suggesting important endocrine evaluations.
Background: Hyponatremia remains a common electrolyte disorder among elderly individuals, often erroneously attributed to SIADH. Central endocrine causes such as hypopituitarism are less recognized but critically important. Acanthocytosis may suggest endocrinepathology. An 84-year-old male presented with recurrent symptom Case Presentation: atic hyponatremia. Peripheral smear revealed acanthocytosis. Endocrine evaluation confirmed panhypopituitarism. MRI revealed a 2.2 cm pituitary macroadenoma. Hormone therapy corrected abnormalities. Recurrent Conclusion: hyponatremia in elderly warrants evaluation for hypopituitarism. Acanthocytosis may serve as a diagnostic clue. Hormonal therapy can reverse abnormalities.
