Cross-sectional study reports 19.04% prevalence of rheumatoid factor in individuals suspected of rheumatoid arthritis, indicating significant autoimmune associations.
Introduction: Rheumatoid arthritis is a long term autoimmune illness. The Rheumatoid factor is a specific autoantibody that targets Fc portion of immunoglobulin G. The Anticitrullinated protein antibodies are more specific than RF. The RF is also positive in robust old people and individuals with other autoimmune diseases therefore specificity is little. The current study was done to understand the seroprevalence of RF in clinically suspected rheumatoid arthritis individuals in a tertiary care hospital in Rohtak. Materials And Methods:- This is a cross-sectional study. This study was conducted in the tertiary care hospital in Rohtak, Haryana, India. A total of 84 samples were interpreted for RF test. Seroprevalence of RF test by latex agglutination assay in the tertiar Results: y care hospital in Rohtak was found to be 19.04%.The total percentage of Females in this study was 64.3% and the total percentage of Males in this study was 35.7%. Seroprevalence in percentage in females found positive for RF test were 10.71% and the Seroprevalence in percentage in males found positive for RF test were 8.33%. In this study seroprevalence of RF is found to be 19.04%. So, this is higher than the other Conclusion: studies. The RF was found higher in females than males. This correlates with the other studies.
