This exploratory study shows the impact of copper metallization on natural elements for jewelry, suggesting creative applications.
This paper presents the results of an exploratory study that conducted an experiment with copper metallization through the artisanal electroplating process. This process was adopted to electroplate metal to coat organic elements to compose authorial jewelry. During the experimental phase, the possibilities of metallizing natural elements, such as shells, leaves, seeds, among others, were explored. The results of the experiment reveal that some natural elements are unviable because they are fragile and brittle; others are more viable because they have a rigid and resistant structure. Combining creativity and metallized natural elements can result in sustainable authorial jewelry.
