This research demonstrates improved dynamic performance and reduced current stress in dual active bridge converters using active disturbance rejection control and extended phase shifting.
To address the challenge of balancing current stress and dynamic response in dual active bridge (DAB) converters, this paper introduces an enhanced linear active disturbance rejection control (LADRC) method utilizing extended phase shifting (EPS) modulation. The proposed approach aims to optimize current stress and enhance the dynamic performance of the dual active bridge DC‐DC converter within a microgrid system, thereby improving the converter's overall efficiency. Firstly, the mathematical models of the transmitted power and the peak inductor current are obtained through an in‐depth analysis of the steady‐state characteristics of the converter under extended phase shifting, and then the optimal solution of the current stress is obtained by solving for the conditional extrema using the Lagrange multiplier method. In addition, by constructing a LADRC system, an improved linear extended state observer is used for real‐time estimation of the system state, which reduces the regulation time of the system and enhances the system's immunity to disturbances relative to the traditional PI control and LADRC. Finally, by simulating and analyzing several control strategies, it is verified that the converter combining EPS modulation and improved LADRC not only has the ability of current stress optimization but also has good immunity.
